30 " x 30" Original Oil Painting on cradled wood panel. Depicting Jones Street in North Beach, San Francisco. This is one of my newest ones, and it was really challenging. I find painting bright sunny days more challenging than overcast, rainy or night scenes, in part because the color values create far less contrast. You can see everything really clearly. But it is the value contrast that really draws you into a picture, so after finishing this painting, I ended up taking a power sander to it, to capture the visual burnout that happens when the sun is too bright. And I think it was pretty successful! Terrifying, but worth it.
